Getting Ready for Retirement Seminar — Klamath Community College

Whether you’re five years from retirement or simply starting to plan ahead, this free one-hour seminar covers the essentials: how to estimate your future income needs, coordinate Social Security benefits, manage pensions or 401(k)s, and avoid the most common mistakes first-time retirees face. Instructors from KCC’s continuing-education department present the material in plain language and answer questions at the end.

Smart Start-Up (In-Person) — Klamath IDEA / SBDC

This two-hour evening workshop is designed for anyone who’s ready to turn a hobby, skill, or big idea into a small business. Trainers from the Small Business Development Center walk participants through step-by-step market research, how to register and license a business in Oregon, the basics of choosing a legal structure, and how to approach banks or investors for start-up capital. Attendees receive worksheets and a checklist to keep them on track after class.

Construction Contractors Board (CCB) Prep & Exam — Klamath IDEA

A complete two-day course required for anyone opening a construction-related business in Oregon. Day 1 covers contracts, lien law, job-site safety, environmental rules, and how to avoid liability disputes. Day 2 concludes with a review session and the official state CCB exam on-site, saving students a trip to a testing center.

Opening Night Fall Fest — Kingman Farmstead Pumpkin Patch

Celebrate the first evening of pumpkin season under colorful fall foliage. Guests can hand-pick pumpkins straight from the patch, enjoy dinner plates prepared by local caterers, and treat themselves to warm seasonal desserts and pumpkin-spice lattes. “Night at the Cemetery” — Klamath County Museum

A lantern-lit walking tour that turns Linkville’s 19th-century cemetery into a living storybook. Local actors portray Klamath Falls pioneers—merchants, homesteaders, teachers, and veterans—sharing dramatic, often touching true tales of the Basin’s earliest days. Tours are guided in small groups to keep the experience intimate and atmospheric; advance reservations are recommended.

The autumn harvest is in full swing: locally grown apples, pears, winter squash, and pumpkins fill the stalls alongside fresh-baked breads, local honey, jams, flowers, and handmade crafts. Buskers and small acoustic groups provide a festive soundtrack as you shop downtown’s seasonal market.
Fire Prevention Week — Community Safety Fair
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM • Klamath County Fairgrounds, 3531 S 6th St
This free, family-oriented event teaches lifesaving home-safety skills in a fun way. Children can climb aboard real fire engines, operate a kid-sized fire hose, and meet Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog, while parents learn about smoke-detector maintenance, home-escape plans, and wildfire preparedness.
3rd Annual Pumpkin Festival — Presented by 541 Jump & United Way of the Klamath Basin

A Gold Country Radio Partner event offering free admission to the public. Features include more than 10 giant bounce houses, pumpkin-bowling lanes, mini-golf, a small-scale tractor pull for kids, face-painting, photo booths, food trucks, and craft vendors. Klamath Basin Potato Festival
Sat & Sun, Oct 18 – 19 • Merrill, Oregon
A Basin harvest tradition for more than 80 years celebrating the region’s famous spuds and farming heritage. Saturday kicks off with the Potato Festival Parade at 11 AM through downtown Merrill, followed by live music, farm exhibits, vendor booths, kids’ games, pie-baking contests, and plenty of potato-themed dishes. Sunday keeps the celebration going with more entertainment and local food.
